Q&A: Best ski school for kids in Southern California?

Q: We’d love to find a ski/snowboard school where the instructors make the lessons fun while teaching effectively as well. Any ideas?

Your options are limited in So. Cal. Mammoth is pretty good, and I’ve heard good things about Bear Valley. But for my money, you simply cannot beat the ski school at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe. My experiences with them have been overwhelmingly positive.

There is a great program in SoCal for kids to learn to ski or snowboard. It is called Blue Angels Ski and the program is held at Mountain High. If your child is at least 7 years old you can sign her up. The Blue Angels provide round-trip bus transportation on five Saturdays in January and February to Mountain High plus skill-appropriate lessons for your child in group classes with other kids that live in and around Los Angeles. Our children had never been on the slopes before we signed them up. They loved the program. They begged us to sign them up again, which we did. We have one skier and two snowboarders now. We highly recommend the Blue Angels. http://www.blueangelsnow.com
